Students of Vyšší odborná škola, Střední průmyslová škola a Střední odborná škola, Varnsdorf and Srednja strukovna skola Blaz Jurjev Trogiranin cooperated on an Erasmus+ project called „Beyond the horizon - cultural heritage of Šluknov and Trogir regions in posters“ in 2019 – 2020.
In autumn 2019 a first ten-day meeting of graphic design and tourism students took place in Trogir. Participating students visited famous tourist sights in this region. Croatian students were supposed to come to Varnsdorf in April 2020 to see the beauty of Šluknov region. Unfortunately, the pandemic situation caused the meeting took place virtually.
The project results consist of promotional materials of chosen areas in both countries written in three languages (English, Czech, Croatian). Graphic students provided image materials, and students of tourism added well-prepared promotional texts. Each group learnt something new from the other field of study during joint workshops. The final products were presented to the public in local exhibitions organised in collaboration with the local authorities in both countries. The leaflets are available at tourist information centres in Varnsdorf, Rumburk, Šluknov, Trogir and other such places.

Rumburk
Loreto Chapel of the Virgin Mary - Loreto Chapel in Rumburk is one of the most valuable Loretos in the Czech Republic, finished and blessed in September 1707. The paintings depict scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary. There is also a blessed statue of “Black Madonna”.
„Umgebinde“ houses - The “Upper Lusatian House” or “Umgebindehaus” is a special type of house that combines different methods of construction (log house, timber-framing and building stone methods).
Chateau Šluknov
Šluknov Chateau was built in the 16th century in the Saxon Renaissance style. Before the chateau was built, there was a wooden mansion with a brewery and a malthouse. It was built by Arnošt of Šlejnić between 1566 and 1573 on the Šluknov estate. During a guided tour, its rooms with original exhibits are open to visitors. Next to the chateau, there is a park that is often used for public events.
Varnsdorf
Varnsdorf is the second largest town in the district of Děčín. It has a population of around 15,000 and it lies under the Lusatian mountains in the basin of the Mandava river. The town has both industrial and garden features. Hrádek, restaurant and lookout tower, has been really popular since 1904. It is wonderful and definitely a landmark of the town which can also be seen from far away.
Krásná Lípa
Krásná Lípa is a town in the region of Ústí nad Labem in the Czech Republic. It has about 3,500 inhabitants. Thirty colonist families from Upper Franconia were probably the first settlers. The most beautiful parts of this area, valuable for flora and fauna, are protected as a cross-border national park. MANA chocolate factory is a social enterprise known for its chocolate of a fantastic quality and rich taste.
Kocour Brewery
If you want to drink a pint of a real beer in Varnsdorf, KOCOUR is the place for you. The brewery is well known for its wide range of high-quality beer. If you want to drink this special beer, it is best to do it at the source - in the restaurant. The restaurant has an outdoor seating area with a barbecue, a smoking area and even rooms for longer stays.
The Glass Industry in the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is world-famous for its glass industry. If you could bring one thing home with you, you would want to get the Czech glass. Its beauty will mesmerize you with all the fascinating shapes and wild colours. The industry started developing in the 13th century. In the 16th century, the glassmaking was influenced e. g. by the German family Friedrich which has been producing glass to this day.
Bohemian Switzerland
Also known as Czech Switzerland, this beautiful place is in the north-west of the Czech Republic. It is on the Czech side of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains north of Děčín. Its highest point is at 726 meters above sea level and called Děčínský Sněžník. The right side of Elbe became a national park in January 1st 2000.
Jiřetín pod Jedlovou
Jiřetín pod Jedlovou is a town in Ústí nad Labem county. The oldest reference about the first settlement near Jiřetín pod Jedlovou dates back to the Middle Ages. In those times there were some glassworks there. Jiřetín pod Jedlovou belongs to a group of towns on a hill, founded on the border with Saxony. In the centre of Jiřetín, there is a town square which is a perfect orthogonal web of streets. In 1599 there was a plague epidemic in the town that killed 300 people.
Split - Bačvice and The Ivan Meštrović Gallery
Bačvice - It is the most popular beach throughout all of Croatia, located in the centre of Split. The beach is around 200 meters long, covered with fine natural sand.
Galerie Ivana Meštroviće - Ivan Meštrović was a famous Croatian sculptor, architect and writer in the 1920s. In this gallery are all his masterpieces built out of various materials.
Gospe od Prizidnice Church
The Church of Our Lady of Prizidnica, the patron saint of sailors and fishermen, is located on the southern side of the island of Čiovo. The sanctuary and the church were founded in the 16th century by Glagolitic priests from Poljica. Above the church door, there are two stone slabs. In the church, there is a 14th-century painting of Our Lady holding Jesus in her hands, which comes from the famous school of painting on the island of Crete.
Cathedral of St. Lawrence and Portal of Radovan
Cathedral of St. Lawrence is located in Trogir and is one of the most beautiful churches in Croatia. The church is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The portal of Radovan, one of the most impressive and interesting masterpieces in Croatia, was carved by Radovan, the most important sculptor of Croatian medieval art.
Klis
Klis Fortress is a medieval fortress located above the municipality of the same name. Klis Fortress was built at an altitude of 360 meters to defend its inhabitants against the enemy. Klis has three levels and is surrounded by a triple ring of defensive walls. Klis Fortress offers a stunning view of the surrounding areas all the way to the distant island of Vis, a sight not to be missed!
Split - Dalmatian Gem
Split was founded around 295 when the construction of Diocletian's palace started. It became a residence of a Roman emperor Diocletian. The construction work finished in 305. All the main streets converged at Peristyle square where you can see the st. Dominus cathedral and Diocletian's mausoleum. It is said to be the oldest cathedral in the world.
Kaštela – Biblical Garden
In Kaštel Novi in Croatia, there is a unique garden you can visit - The Biblical Garden of Stomoria. It is an open museum where you can see many biblically themed sculptures, for example, a Pope's olive, a replica of Noah's Ark and many more. A visit of Ivan Pavao II inspired its foundation.
Trogir
Trogir is a town in Croatia that was founded by Greek colonists in 3rd century BC. The name could be coming either from the Greek word, „tragos“ meaning „a billy goat“ or from the Illyrian word „tregur“ meaning „three stones“. The historic part of Trogir is protected by UNESCO. One of the most significant buildings is the cathedral of St. Lawrence. Its entrance is made by sculptor Radovan.
Salona
Salona was an ancient metropolis of the province of the Roman Empire situated on the east side of the Adriatic Sea. In ancient times it was the capital of the province, but as the Moving of the Nations begun, it was completely devastated. The ruins today are located in Solin. Solin has a good position inside the Gulf of Kaštela, next to Jadro river.
